About The Marble Room
Tucked upstairs at 169 Dee Street, The Marble Room is a space with a little history, a little polish, and a whole lot of possibility.
Created for people who want somewhere a bit more interesting to meet, work, shoot, host or celebrate, the room has been thoughtfully brought to life with character, restored details, thrifted finds and carefully chosen touches. It feels considered without feeling too precious, polished without feeling plain, and flexible enough to make your own.
By day, it’s ready for meetings, planning sessions, flexible workspace and content shoots. By night, it shifts into something a little more social, made for launches, events, celebrations and gatherings worth remembering.

The Team Behind the Space
The Marble Room was brought to life by the team at Elm Marketing, a creative marketing studio based just downstairs.
We spend our days helping businesses tell their stories, shape their brands and show up well, so creating a space of our own felt like a natural next step. Somewhere people could meet, shoot, plan, launch, celebrate and bring their ideas into the room.
With a good eye for detail, a love of second-hand finds and a soft spot for giving old spaces new life, we turned the upstairs into something that feels polished, practical and full of character. The kind of room we wanted to use ourselves, and the kind of room we hope you’ll love using too.
The History of Our Building
Long before The Marble Room became an upstairs space for meetings, shoots, events and good ideas, 169 Dee Street had a life of its own. Sitting on the corner of Dee and Yarrow Streets, the building has been part of Invercargill’s central story for generations, home to local businesses, familiar shopfronts and the kind of everyday comings and goings that give an old building its character.
We loved the idea of bringing that history back into the room, not by making it feel old-fashioned, but by giving it a new purpose while keeping a little nod to what came before.
The Dainty Marble Bar
The Marble Room takes its name from The Dainty Marble Bar, a little corner store that once operated here in the 1920s. From fruit and confectionery to tea rooms and steak and kidney pies, it was the kind of place people would have stopped into, met up at, and remembered. Almost a century later, we liked the idea of carrying that name forward in a new way. The Marble Room is our modern nod to that original gathering place, thoughtfully brought back to life for people to meet, host, work, celebrate and make the space their own.
Our Neighbours
We share our space with the lovely ReBooth team, a local charity helping Murihiku whānau access free gym shoes, school uniforms and formalwear. We’re proud to have their mahi happening under the same roof.
